In the gastric sleeve, there are two ways to lose weight. Because the stomach’s capacity is reduced, there is a mechanical limitation and weight loss as the stomach’s activities are reduced.

The stomach is divided into a small upper pouch and a much larger lower “remnant” pouch, and the small intestine is altered to connect to both. This is known as gastric bypass surgery. Moreover, unlike a sleeve gastrectomy, the stomach will not be removed in its entirety.

A soft, inflatable balloon, a placement tube, and a filling mechanism make up the Gastric Balloon. The intragastric balloon is too large to pass through the stomach, resulting in a longer-lasting feeling of fullness with lower food quantities.

Botulinum toxin is injected into the gastric fundus using an endoscopic needle. The striated muscles of the stomach are affected by botulinum toxin, which inhibits their contractions and so slows the digestion of food in the stomach.

We have put together some commonly asked questions
The Gastric Sleeve Surgery (also known as the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) is a bariatric procedure that involves the removal of 75-80% of the stomach. It is now the most frequent bariatric operation in Turkey and around the world
A gastric sleeve is a type of surgery that is performed under the skin (laparoscopically). The main goal of the procedure is to interfere in the fundus, also known as the appetite center, which is located in the stomach. The release of the appetite hormone Ghrelin lowers after this intervention, which helps the patient’s hunger decrease and give eating control. Patients who have finished the evaluation process and are considered surgical candidates are brought to the operating room after completing the endoscopic procedure.
A tube stomach is a procedure that involves the use of Ligasure and Stapler devices and four small incisions in the patient’s belly, with an average time of 45-50 minutes. To avoid distorting the anatomy of the stomach, about 4/3 of the volume of the stomach is intervened during the procedure. Staples and stitching lines are used to seal the stomach. The patient is transferred to the room throughout the operation room process and after surgery, which takes an average of 2 hours.
At least 18 months following obesity surgery, it is acceptable to become pregnant. Early in the pregnancy, the patient should be under the observation of a gynecologist and a bariatric nutritionist at the same time.
Like any other operation, bariatric surgery has some risks. Major complications from these treatments are uncommon, but they do occur in roughly 2% to 3% of the time. The most common problems in bariatric surgery include leakage (1%), bleeding that requires re-intervention (1%), and clot development in the leg major veins with or without pulmonary embolism (1%). Tube stenosis, which affects about 1% of people, is the only long-term issue that may require intervention. In this case, an expandable balloon treatment can be used to treat the stenosis that was discovered endoscopically. Following bariatric surgery, the mortality rate is roughly 0.1 percent.
After bariatric surgery, it is not recommended that the patient engage in strenuous physical activity for a certain length of time. He/she is advised to sports such as swimming one month following surgery, which will begin with brisk walking to improve his condition and will subsequently work all muscle groups. 6 months after surgery, it is recommended that you begin weight training with a professional. Sports that a person enjoys, can do on a regular basis, and can turn into a lifestyle are also encouraged.
You must inform the anesthesiologist about the smoking and alcohol intake prior to any obesity surgery. It’s important to remember that quitting smoking 5 days before the operation and quitting drinking 10 days before the surgery can help you have a more pleasant procedure.
After the post-operative checks, if there are no complications, you can return to work after one week.
It is not recommended to drink it for the first six months following surgery.
Laparoscopy is a technique that allows surgeons to access the abdominal cavity without making large incisions on the skin. Laparoscopy, also known as minimally invasive surgery, is performed with the help of devices called laparoscopes.
In the open surgery method, large incision is required to see the inside of the abdomen clearly ,while only a few 1-1.5 cm incisions are needed in the laparoscopy technique. This method comes with great advantages in terms of complication risk, recovery time, and postoperative scar formation.
Patients are well-informed about the benefits and drawbacks of each option, and they collaborate with our surgeons to select the procedure that is best for them. The sort of procedure to be conducted is determined by the patient’s BMI and general medical condition.
